FAQs

Here is a common list of questions we get.

What exactly are microgreens?

  • Microgreens are young seedlings of edible vegetables and herbs, harvested when they are typically 1 to 3 inches tall, just after their first leaves (cotyledons) have fully developed . They are used to enhance the visual appeal, flavor, and texture of dishes

How are microgreens different from sprouts?

  • Microgreens are grown in a medium like soil or coco coir and require light, harvested after 7 to 21 days . Sprouts, on the other hand, are germinated seeds grown in water or a moist, often dark, environment and are harvested much earlier (2 to 7 days). Sprouts are typically consumed whole (seed, root, and shoot), while only the stems and leaves of microgreens are eaten.

    Why should I eat microgreens?

  • Despite their small size, microgreens are remarkably nutrient-dense, often containing 10 to 40 times more nutrients than their mature vegetable counterparts . They are rich in essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and beneficial phytochemicals.

Are microgreens safe to eat raw?

  • Yes, our microgreens are grown in clean, controlled environments and are safe to eat raw.

How should I use microgreens in my cooking?

  • Microgreens are best consumed raw to preserve their delicate freshness and maximize nutritional benefits . They can be added to smoothies, layered into sandwiches or wraps, sprinkled on soups, mixed into salads, or used as a vibrant topping for main dishes like steak or fish.

Do I need to wash my microgreens?

  • Many indoor growers cultivate microgreens in controlled environments without soil or pesticides, making them ready-to-eat directly from the container with no washing needed. If microgreens are grown in soil, a gentle rinse with fresh water is generally recommended. Always check the specific guidance from your provider.

How are your microgreens grown to ensure quality and safety?

  • We use organic growing practices and source non-GMO seeds, ensuring our products are free from pesticides and non-organic fertilizers. Our microgreens are cultivated in controlled indoor environments using OMRI certified organic coco coir or natural fiber mediums, and we maintain strict hygiene and sanitation protocols from seed sourcing to packaging.

How should I store microgreens at home to keep them fresh?

  • Upon delivery, immediately refrigerate your microgreens between 35°F and 40°F (1.66°C to 4.44°C) . Ensure they are dry before refrigeration, as excess moisture can lead to spoilage . Store them in well-ventilated containers, avoiding airtight ones. When stored optimally, microgreens can last up to 14 days, but for peak taste and nutrition, consume them within 5 to 7 days. Do not freeze microgreens.
